Sister Suffragette
It just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?
Before I start my mini-rant (don't ya'll just love how all my rants are "mini"?) I just want to clarify that it's not a partisan rant. Okay, so every morning as I'm watching the news, reading cnn.com, doing anything that involves listening to current events, I get more and more outraged at these bailouts.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-bailout, not at all. However, I am anti the bailouts that we (insert whoever chooses the bailoutees) have chosen to "save." In my opinion, the companies and industries that should be bailed out, are those that have the greatest chance of survival after this recession/depression is behind us.
Circuit City for example!
I realize that I'm partial to CC because I'm from Richmond and that's where they were founded, but they employ over 40,000 people across the country. I have no doubt that when the economy is back on it's feet that Circuit City would have had no problem in returning to making a profit. I think it's a shame that so many stores and companies are going under, while the government continues to bail out AIG, and the auto industry.
I don't want to say anything too inflammatory, because I don't really understand all the nuances to these economic questions and solutions. However, I really believe that the auto industry is going to have problems even when the economy has recovered. Their problems, yes- they've been exacerbated by this crisis, but they've been present ever since NAFTA was signed and they're going to be there after the recovery.
And I'm not saying we (insert whoever chooses the bailoutees) shouldn't have rescued the automotive companies, I'm just using it as an example to make my overall point: we (insert whoever chooses the bailoutees) need to be bailing out companies that have a viable chance of returning a profit once we're out of this recession. And I think that getting out of this financial fustercluck is going to be much more difficult with so many service providing companies and industries no longer there to provide, well, their "service."
I hope I didn't offend anyone, because that wasn't my point, I just wanted to vent a little and think of a world run by me! haha.

Snow Day
I know this post is a few days late, I'm sorry for the delay! We've been really busy for the last couple of days and I've just been zapped of my energy- last night I went to bed at 10pm! I can't remember the last time I went to bed that early.
I think the pictures are pretty self explanatory, but here is a funny story about Josie (my pup). She doesn't like to get her feet wet and when it snows (or rains), she pees on the deck! After she's done, she scurries back to the door and hides underneath the eave. Whoever heard of a herding (haha) dog hating the outdoors?
I do think it's funny that both of my girls prefer to be inside that outside! So does anyone have any exciting weekend plans?

Jimmy Fallon, How I Love Thee

This may sound strange to some of you, but I have an unabashed love for Jimmy Fallon! It all started when I waited in line for hours to get tickets to a performance he did at William & Mary. It grew when he wore the Paul Deli's t-shirt on SNL that he got when he was at W&M after hanging out at my favorite bar. It was cemented during every Weekend Update he ever did with Tina Fey.
So why am I lauding dear Jimmy tonight? He had his first show as Conan O'Brien's replacement on the Late Late Show last night! I, for one, thought he was great, but a lot of people were just down right harsh about my main man. Sure, there were some rough parts, but on the whole, I thought he did a perfectly respectable job.
Internet, I hope you will give Mr. Fallon (that's what I call him in my head) a chance. Oh, and Tina Fey is going to be on tonight, so you definitely shouldn't miss it - or in my case- forget to tivo it.
Have Some F-U-N
I found this super cool website - Go Here- to check it out. It translates American slang and catch phrases into the "British" vernacular. It also does reverse translations and it's a lot of fun. It came in handy last night as I was watching The Bachelor and I kept calling him a "Bloody Bugger," instead of what I was really thinking.

Who Hates Snow?
We got about 7-8 inches of snow here in central Virginia on Sunday night. I was SO looking forward to Spencer getting to wear her snow bibs for the first time. Yes, she has seen snow before, but no actual accumulation.
After she got up and ate breakfast, I started getting us ready for a day of snow filled fun. It took awhile to get us both bundled up, have you ever tried getting mittens on a toddler? Not easy to do! We walked outside, hand in hand, and she got her first glimpse at a Winter Wonderland.
I plopped us both down in the snow, expecting shrieks of glee, but I only heard a fearful wailing. She hated it!
She was afraid to walk in it, sit in it, or play in it. I'm hoping this doesn't too long and that she'll be more used to it tomorrow. What child hates snow? But let me tell you, she looked so cute in her snow suit! I'll have pictures tomorrow. I hope everyone had a great weekend.
